RapidConnect helps improve patient care through better clinician communication and collaboration

Raleigh, N.C. March 6, 2017 – MD Interconnect, a mobile technology health company today announced that Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is the latest hospital to implement RapidConnect. They join a growing list of customers, including WakeMed Health & Hospitals, turning to the company’s innovative cloud-based mobile secure messaging platform for healthcare professionals.

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and its clinically integrated network (Lurie Children’s Health Partners Clinically Integrated Network – LCHPCIN) had been searching for a new HIPPA secure messaging solution to help improve system communication between the inpatient and outpatient clinical environments and to streamline patient care, while fulfilling their educational mission. They evaluated multiple secure messaging solutions, and chose the highly customizable RapidConnect platform for its flexibility, intuitive user design and full feature functionality.

“It is obvious that RapidConnect was truly designed with the physician in mind and we were especially impressed with MD Interconnect’s understanding of our clinical environment,” explained Daniel Lum, M.D. FAAP, Medical Director LCHPCIN. “Our network has physicians at many sites throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, at partner hospitals as well as satellite clinics and primary care offices.  One of the goals of our clinically integrated network is to strengthen collaboration between primary care and specialty physicians.  We also need to improve communication between clinicians at our main campus and those at our partner hospitals and satellites.  Using Rapid Connect will help to fulfill both those aims.”

“As part of our due diligence, we spoke to other RapidConnect users.  Based on those conversations, it became clear that the company is committed to ensuring a smooth implementation and successful system-wide adoption, including both inpatient and outpatient clinicians, with minimal disruption to established workflow,” added Marleta Reynolds, M.D, Lurie Children’s Hospitals’ Surgeon-in-Chief.

Developed by physicians, RapidConnect is a complete communication system that features a secure, HIPAA-compliant messaging platform for smartphones as well as a desktop version. Replacing outdated paging systems and devices, this new technology aims to enhance the ability for hospital providers and community physicians to communicate with one another quickly, securely and on-the-go. The result is better coordination and improved care for the patient’s benefit.

“As a pediatric surgeon, I understand the unique challenges that children’s hospitals and their clinicians face,” explained MD Interconnect Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer David Hoover, M.D. “We are very excited to work with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital to help them deliver better care.”

Physicians, referring providers and health professionals can use RapidConnect to quickly reach the right provider at the right time. The app allows health providers to coordinate consults, share results, communicate patient information, notify patient arrivals, process admissions and more. The RapidConnect platform integrates call schedules to make it easier for physicians to know who is on call. Furthermore, its message preference routing engine ensures the patients’ healthcare team is included in the communication. The platform’s newest RapidPair feature even allows a proxy to review and respond to secure messages on a physician’s behalf when they are otherwise occupied.

RapidConnect has been proven to help healthcare systems streamline care and avoid unnecessary high cost care (such as emergency department visits) when appropriate. It has also been proven to dramatically decrease hospital call center volumes, leading to reduced hospital operational costs and improved time-to-treatment ratios.
