As a practicing pediatric surgeon, Dr. Hoover has always had a passion for improving healthcare from a clinical process and technology perspective. He is renowned for his use of cutting edge devices and procedures in his surgical practice, including recognition as the first surgeon in the country to repair a Tracheal Esophageal Fistula using magnets. As a physician leader, he is also committed to improving operational processes, patient satisfaction and efficiency.

He co-founded MD Interconnect and created RapidConnect in response to a critical challenge that he and other physicians face; connecting the right physicians at the right time, to ensure the best possible outcome for patients. He continues to work closely with the rest of the MD Interconnect team to ensure ongoing innovation and successful customer implementations.

Dr. Hoover currently serves as the director of Outpatient Pediatric Services at WakeMed Health & Hospitals. Prior to his leadership role at WakeMed, David was the director of Outpatient Specialty Services for Pediatrics at Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, part of Carolina Health Systems. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, and completed his residency at Northwestern University. He also completed a residency in general surgery at Carolinas Medical Center, and a fellowship in pediatric surgery and ECMO at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He earned his B.S in biology from Mississippi State.
